If you are considering extensions, do your research. The person applying the extensions should be a licensed cosmetologist or esthetician and should be trained and certified in extensions. You will also want to consider how many sets/fills they are doing weekly; if they are doing only a few, chances are their technique isn’t going to be where it needs to be to ensure quality application.
When eyelash extensions are applied correctly they will not damage your natural lashes. At Lash Avenue, we meticulously apply the extensions paying extra care to separation and proper selection of extensions. All extensions are applied individually and will shed out with your natural lash cycle. We select the proper diameter and length of the extensions that will maintain the health of your natural lashes.
Irritations and allergic reactions are uncommon. While they are uncommon, people can develop different allergies over time; quite simply, lashes aren’t for everyone. Our adhesives are some of the best in the industry and do not contain formaldehyde or latex. If you are concerned, schedule a consultation with us where we will apply several extensions on each eye in order to test two of our adhesives to ensure no reactions arise.
There are a few situations that would prevent someone from having eyelash extensions:
Cancer / Chemotherapy: Once chemo is complete and/or lashes are grown in, the specialist can then apply our thinnest extensions to ensure the health of your natural lashes until they are back to their original state.
Alopecia (When one experiences extreme hair loss): Extensions are applied to the natural lashes, so once hair growth begins, your specialist will then be able to apply extensions.
Trichotillomania (Having the urge to pull lashes and other hair out): Damage of the natural lashes can come from pulling on the extensions
Skin sensitivity: If you are worried about skin sensitivities, please schedule a consult to see if you are free from irritation.
Eye rubbing: Rubbing your eyes is damaging with or without extensions and can scratch your cornea. If you rub your eyes, not only can you damage your corneas, but you will also pull out the extensions and cause damage to your natural lashes.
The length of time the extensions will last varies on your own natural lash cycle, as well as overall care given to the extensions. Our natural lash cycle is 60-90 days; however, this varies from person to person. On average we naturally shed about 1-2 natural lashes per eye per day. Clients get a fill every 2-4 weeks, depending on lash set, cycle, and overall care given to keep them looking their best.
Generally clients return between 2-4 weeks to keep the extensions at their best. This time will vary depending on style of lashes, your natural lash cycle, as well as overall care given to the extensions.
At Lash Avenue, we offer 4 different curls, 11 different lengths, and 5 diameters that allow you to completely customize your look. We also offer several colors that allow you to add highlights to your set. Everyone's eyes are different; the style and look should be unique to you. Your specialist will look at your natural lashes in order to get the look that will fit you best based on your natural lashes and desired look.
There are many benefits of eyelash extensions including longer and fuller lashes, a more youthful appearance, and opening up your eyes. Some of our personal favorites are the time saved in the mornings as well as a self-esteem boost.
Yes, you can go swimming with extensions. The extensions are completely waterproof after 24 hours; however, extra care should be given. Don’t rub your eyes and pat dry with a towel when finished. Excessive swimming can loosen the bond prematurely.
